Contact lenses are made from various materials, including soft hydrogel materials and rigid gas-permeable materials. Soft lenses are more flexible and comfortable to wear, while rigid gas-permeable lenses allow for better oxygen flow to the cornea.

There are different types of contact lenses based on their usage:

Daily Wear Lenses: These are designed to be worn during the day and removed before sleeping. They are replaced daily, bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on the type.

Extended Wear Lenses: These lenses are approved by eye care professionals for overnight wear. They allow more oxygen to reach the cornea, reducing the risk of certain complications.

Disposable Lenses: These lenses are designed to be worn for a specific period and then discarded. They are available as daily disposables, weekly disposables, or monthly disposables.

Toric Lenses: Toric lenses are used to correct astigmatism. They have different powers in different meridians of the lens.

Multifocal Lenses: These lenses are used to correct presbyopia, allowing the wearer to see clearly at multiple distances.

Colored Lenses: Colored contact lenses can change the appearance of the eye's color. They are available with or without prescription.

Cataract surgery generally involves one or more incision into the eye either from the sclera or the clear cornea.
It is important to wait for these incisions to heal completely before wearing contact lenses.
Typically after cataract surgery eye drops are prescribed for about 2-4 weeks. These drops may cause sensitivity and prevent you from wearing contact lenses.
It is advisable to wait for about 2-4 weeks before you resume wearing contact lenses after cataract surgery.
