How Glare Testing is done

  1. Glare testing is a procedure used to measure your ability to tolerate glare from bright lights. This test is typically used to diagnose conditions like cataracts and macular degeneration. With fully automated equipment, the test takes only a few minutes.
  2. First, you will be seated in front of a machine that has a large screen. You will be asked to focus on a small central spot on the screen. A light will then be shined directly at your eyes for a few seconds. The brightness of the light will be increased gradually, and you will be asked to indicate when you first start to see a glare. The machine will record the brightness level at which you first notice the glare, and this will be used to measure your tolerance to glare.
  3. After completing the glare test, you may be asked to repeat the test using a different type of light. This is done to confirm the accuracy of the results.
  4. If you have any questions or concerns during the test, please do not hesitate to ask.

Absolutely love how understanding Dr. Kumud Raut is. The only place where I have not been told about only the process of getting a surgery, but rather they insist on educating about how the eye functions and the importance of having a healthy eye before any surgery.
