Are Your Eye Glasses Weighing Too Heavy On your Nose?

If your glasses are too heavy, they can cause pain even if you wear your glasses properly on your nose. Just move the nose pads in or out until they feel comfortable and take the weight off your nose. If your glasses lack adjustable nose pads, you can tighten the temples. If you notice indentations from your glasses’ nose pads, that means your glasses are too heavy.

Frame Size Is a Major Factor In Lens Thickness And Adds Weight

* It is a simple law of physics. The smaller the lens, the lighter and thinner it is. Choosing a small lens size frame is the biggest determinant of lens thickness and weight. Smaller frames also decrease the amount of lens distortions / aberrations.

* Most people who choose Eyeglass Frames are concerned with price and style. But there are other factors to consider, such as how lightweight, strong, flexible and corrosion-resistant the frames are.

* The most lightweight material for eyeglasses is a plastic material. It's a lightweight and durable material that is great for glasses.

* Other than plastic, titanium is another choice that is lightweight and durable. It's a metal that doesn't rust or corrode.

What Reduces The Overall Thickness And Weight Of The Lens?

* Thinner edges require less lens material, which reduces the overall weight of the lenses. Lenses made of High-Index Plastic are lighter than the same lenses made in conventional plastic, so they're more comfortable to wear. They are especially recommended if you have a Strong Eyeglass Prescription.

* High-index glass lenses also have thinner edges, but high-index glass is heavier than conventional glass, so there is not as much weight savings with glass as there is with plastic lenses.

* Farsightedness (hyperopia) is a common vision condition in which you can see distant objects clearly but objects nearby may be blurry.

* Nearsightedness (myopia) is a common vision condition in which near objects appear clear but objects farther away look blurry.

If you are farsighted, you need "plus" (+) lenses, which are thicker in the centre and thinner at the edge and vice-versa, if you are nearsighted.

In strong farsighted prescriptions, most High-Index lenses have an Aspheric design, which gives them a slimmer, more attractive appearance and reduces the magnified "bug-eye" look that conventional lenses cause.

* Conventional plastic lenses have a refractive index of approximately 1.50. For glass, it's 1.52.
Any lens material with a refractive index that's higher than that of glass or plastic is considered to be High-Index.

* If you want High-Index lenses, be sure to ask your eye specialists' advice regarding which Index to use.

The Higher the Index Of Refraction, The Thinner A Lens Can Be..

The Reason Is.. In order to get the same refraction effect. Optical lenses are now classified into the following categories:
• Normal Index: 1.48-1.54
• Mid Index: 1.54-1.64
• High Index: 1.64-1.74
• Ultra-High Index: 1.74 and above.

Most of today's popular lens designs and features — including Progressive Lenses and Photochromic Lenses — are available in High-Index materials.

Glass is available in very high indices such as 1.8 and 1.9 but because of its density it is still very heavy.

Do Rimless Glasses Add To The Comfort Of The Wearers?

Yes. Rimless glasses are just Frameless glasses and are Lightweight and gives a more Comfortable wearing experience. These glasses have lenses fixed directly on the bridge and / or temple.

What Happens If You Are Not Satisfied with Your Prescription Glasses?

* This usually happens because there are so many different outlets to purchase your glasses where Discounts are offered, “Buy 1 And Get 1 Free’ or ’20% to 50% Discount’ or ‘Buying Online’ so usually people flock there to make their purchases.

* Some patients get their prescriptions for the lenses from their eye specialist and then order the frames themselves. If one does this, one may run the risk of the glasses not being properly fitted to one's face, which could cause nose pain and other problems.

* At Dr Raut's Eye Care Clinic, there is a wide choice of Light-Weight Frames and Glasses. Do visit our clinic to have your eyes tested, as our specialists will make sure to take your eye measurements correctly, so that the glasses you purchase will fit perfectly.

Absolutely love how understanding Dr. Kumud Raut is. The only place where I have not been told about only the process of getting a surgery, but rather they insist on educating about how the eye functions and the importance of having a healthy eye before any surgery.
