Treatment

  1. Medical Treatment
    1. Prescription Eye Drops: Eye drops help to reduce inflammation, irritation, and pain associated with corneal abrasions.
    2. Topical Anesthetic: A topical anesthetic applied to the eye can reduce pain and discomfort associated with corneal abrasions.
    3. Lubricating Ointment: Lubricating ointment helps to keep the eye moist and reduce irritation.
    4. Artificial Tears: Artificial tears help to reduce dryness and irritation caused by corneal abrasions.
    5. Antibiotic Ointment: Antibiotic ointment helps to reduce the risk of infection and speed up the healing process.
    6. Patching: Patching the eye helps to reduce the risk of further damage to the eye and can reduce pain and discomfort.
    7. Phototherapy: Phototherapy helps to reduce inflammation and speed up the healing process.
  2. Surgical Treatment
    1. Corneal Debridement: This is a procedure that involves removing foreign objects, damaged tissue, and scar tissue from the surface of the eye.
    2. Corneal Bandage: This is a procedure that involves placing a bandage contact lens on the eye to protect the cornea while it is healing.
    3. Corneal Patching: This procedure involves placing a patch on the eye to help reduce the risk of infection and to provide temporary protection while the eye is healing.
    4. Corneal Sutures: This procedure involves using sutures to repair the cornea and to help reduce the risk of infection.
    5. Corneal Transplant: This procedure involves replacing the damaged cornea with a healthy one from a donor.
  3. Home Remedies
    1. Cold Compress: Applying a cold compress to the affected eye can help reduce pain and swelling.
    2. Artificial Tears: Using artificial tears can help keep the eye lubricated and reduce discomfort.
    3. Wear Protective Eyewear: Wearing protective eyewear such as goggles or sunglasses can help protect the eye from further injury.
    4. Avoid Rubbing the Eye: Rubbing the eye can make the abrasion worse and cause further irritation.
    5. Avoid Contact Lenses: Contact lenses should be avoided until the abrasion has healed completely.
    6. Avoid Makeup and Chemicals: Makeup and other chemicals should be avoided until the abrasion has healed completely.
    7. Avoid Swimming: Swimming and any water sports should be avoided until the abrasion has healed completely.

Absolutely love how understanding Dr. Kumud Raut is. The only place where I have not been told about only the process of getting a surgery, but rather they insist on educating about how the eye functions and the importance of having a healthy eye before any surgery.
