These can stick to your lenses and cause infections in the eye. A particular type of infection is acanthoemoeba keratitis. This is caused by an organism that is present in different sources of water and can lead to vision threatening infection in the eye. Water does not disinfect the lenses. Disinfection is done only by contact lens solutions. Always remember- Never wash or store your contacts in Water Always use contact lens solution for storing or cleaning your lenses. Use goggles while swimming with your lenses on
