Can I apply eye makeup after lasik?

Eye makeup should be avoided at least for two weeks after lasik surgery. As we know lasik surgery involves creating a flap which heals on its own in twenty four hours but you are still likely to get eye infections. Major causes of avoiding eye makeup immediately after lasik surgery is one can easily injure the eye mainly the cornea while applying eye makeup,eye makeup can attract bacteria from the surrounding making eye prone to infection,removing the eye makeup by rubbing on the eye lids can dislodge the flap in early postoperative days. After two weeks start with light makeup and use a new makeup kit,discard old brushes ,eye liner and pencils.Apply less pressure while applying eye makeup.Gently remove eye makeup by downward strokes on eye lid.Be safe.
Can a person with astigmatism wear contact lenses
Yes.. most of the people with cylindrical power can wear contact lenses Spherical power is when the cornea is curved equally in all directions and cylindrical power / astigmatism is when one meridian of the cornea is more curved than the other. In regular astigmatism the horizontal and vertical meridians are perpendicular to each other. These can be corrected by contact lenses. In irregular astigmatism these meridians are not perpendicular to each other. These patients need proper evaluation by the ophthalmologists. People with astigmatism will complain of blurry vision, eye strain or headache. In addition to spectacles, contact lens is a good option for such people. Which lens to try will depend on the cylindrical power of the eye. Very mild astigmatism upto 0.5 can usually be corrected by spherical soft contact lenses. Mild to moderate cylinder upto about 2.5 can be corrected by soft lenses with cylinders called as toric lenses. Higher cylinders will require semisoft contact lenses ( RGP lenses ) . In some cases special lenses called as scleral lenses maybe necessary. Kindly contact your eye doctor to determine which one is the best option for you.
Can I sleep with my lenses on
NO..its definitely not safe to sleep/nap with your lenses on Sleeping with the lenses on increases your chances of eye infection. Your eye harbours bacteria. However the tears in your eye and the available oxygen keeps your eye healthy, thus preventing the eye from getting infected. During waking hours you are constantly blinking. This helps in keeping the eye moist and also allows the oxygen to flow in through the tears. Lenses fit snugly over the cornea. This decreases the moisture in the eye and this in turn decreases the amount of oxygen in the eye. This decreases even further when you are asleep thus making your susceptible to the infections.
Answer to can I store my lenses in water
No !! You should never wash or store your lenses in water. Water is hypotension. It can change the shape of your lenses and make them unsuitable for wearing. Water contains many micro organises. These can stick to your lenses and cause infections in the eye. A particular type of infection is acanthoemoeba keratitis. This is caused by an organism that is present in different sources of water and can lead to vision threatening infection in the eye. Water does not disinfect the lenses. Disinfection is done only by contact lens solutions. Always remember- Never wash or store your contacts in Water Always use contact lens solution for storing or cleaning your lenses. Use goggles while swimming with your lenses on
Will I be normal after retina injection
It is only normal to be anxious about your first eye injection, why am I saying so because as the condition for which the injection is given usually is recurring one, if not all at least most of them do. So what happens after receiving injection in your eye for any retina disorder? Usually the procedure is pain free but slight pain should be expected. A patch will be put on your injected eye which can be removed as soon as you reach a safe environment like your home. You will be given antibiotic eye drop to be instilled in your eye for a week or so. You will be asked to avoid head bath for a day or two so that direct entry of unsterile water is prevented after which you can resume normal routine. Now about the vision part you have to understand the disease from your treating doctor so that the visual improvement from injection can be known before.
